新加坡政府日前表示，将从下周开始施行本土“新加坡垃圾邮件控制法令”，从而帮助政府更好的控制垃圾邮件带来的非法广告泛滥问题。
据法新社报道，新加坡信息和通讯部发言人表示，在此次颁布的法令之下，违反法令要求的垃圾邮件发送机构或个人，将被判处最多一百万新加坡元的罚金，折合65.7万美元。“该法令将提供一个更好的框架，管理垃圾商业电子信息问题，实际上这些垃圾邮件甚至可能带来账号盗窃等后果更为严重的恶意犯罪，因此政府当然不会坐视不管。”
据悉该法令将在6月15日正式开始生效。 实际上目前世界多个发达国家已经引入了相关的垃圾邮件法令，其中包括美国、日本、韩国以及澳大利亚等。

Singapore ‘Spam Control Act’ to take effect on June 15, 2007
Beginning on June 15, 2007, the Singapore government will enact its Spam Control Act to address the growing global problem of spam.
Spam which is nothing but unsolicited electronic messages sent in bulk, is estimated to make up the bulk of all emails sent worldwide. Such messages could be sent via mobile telephony systems or email. Spam typically advertises or promotes goods or services, which may also include land, business opportunity or investment opportunities. Thus, the Spam Control Act will offer a framework to better manage this issue.
In fact, so bad is the issue, that Singapore-based marketers who are actually guilty of spamming can be meted out a $657,000 fine.
Under the Act, all those marketers who are based in Singapore or who have operations there, who continue to spam the “not interested” group will have to face potential financial penalties. The statutory penalty is $25 for each electronic message, up to a total of $1 million.
According to a statement made by the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts: “The Act will offer a framework to better manage unsolicited electronic messages sent in bulk, otherwise known as spam.”
