How to set Active Directory/LDAP authentication properly in Merak ?
Administrators can authenticate against an Active Directory server for users in Merak Mail Server.now show how to create a new user in Merak to be authenticated by Active Directory or LDAP.
The example is based on an Active Directory Server called "ad.icewarp.cn" and there exists a User "helpdesk" in domain "icewarp.cn".
[*]Create a new user in Merak. In this example we are creating user "tester' in "icewarp.cn". You need to select "Active Directory" mode from the Mode drop-down.[*]In the text box to the right of the Mode box you need to specify authentication information. The format of authentication is "Active Directory Server;Active Directory User" (note the delimiting semi-colon)
In this example - ad.icewarp.cn;helpdesk@icewarp.cn
If the AD server is located on the same machine as Merak then this can be dropped from the authentication
In this example - ;helpdesk@icewarp.cn (note the semi-colon still needs to be there)
If the AD server is located on the same machine AND the User and domain names are the same then the authentication box can be left blank.
